About

Greetings from Africa

Thank you for your interest in my photographic card series, Greetings from Africa. The photographs on each greeting card were captured during my personal trips to Ghana, Benin, Togo, Guinea, South Africa, and Madagascar.  Traveling to many villages, I had opportunities to meet  hundreds of people. Deeply affected by the warmth and dignity of the Africans I met, I was inspired to convey these qualities through my photography.

Between 1994 and 2001, I volunteered as an x-ray technologist and photographer aboard the Anastasis, one of the world’s largest, non-governmental hospital ships at the time. The objective of those of us who served on board the ship was to provide free care to thousands of Africans in desperate need of medical attention.

Each card is custom-crafted, measuring 5×7 inches, featuring a blank interior with white envelope. The complete collection consists of more than 100 pieces, suitable for a variety of occasions, including birthday, friendship & family, encouragement & inspiration, hardship and more. Unique inspirational and Scripture cards are also included in the collection. Please note that a portion of every sale is donated to the care of Africa’s poor.

A graduate of the Antonelli School of Photography, I currently reside in suburban Philadelphia.

“I see these cards as evidence of a heart of humility and selflessness. It truly is a ministry of healing, love and beholding all of God’s creation. You journey with Michael as he journeyed. I love how he matched each quote with that which he captured with his lens.”

“I have often looked through and purchased Mike’s cards. There is always something to match the need of the moment. And each one, serious or humorous, is somehow uplifting.”

“Mike lives his life with an integrity you don’t see very often in this world. He has a passion for the people and situations he photographs, and remembers the stories behind each photo. His faith in Jesus rules his daily life, his relationships, and his work. I’m glad to call him my friend.”
